Indeed, "Mga Batang Poz" is a gateway to reality. A truth that made me more compassionate to the people around me in its finest sense. I'm glad that iWant and Dreamescape took this initiative as now, proper education will finally reach our hands and teach especially the people who need it. It is such a relief because through this series, uncovering the truth, I can say that the stigma will definitely start to break apart.

A BIG HUG for all Poz out there.

The last episode entitled "Angel" promotes hope. It is a vital episode for it has become an inspiration and an encouragement. It is a promise that everything can change - the fight on HIV especially the stigma that comes with it. The thing with "Mga Batang Poz" is that after watching the series, you will have an appreciation of our poz brothers and sisters (HIV positive individuals). You get to understand their choices and what they are going through.

Awra Brigela's episode "Chuchay" is a message that everyone can have it, no matter where you stand in our community. Chuchay may have a different motivation but the episode proves that it can happen to anyone. Awra Briguela made it all worked. She is fun to watch but when the sensitive scenes comes, she was intense. Awra is indeed allowing herself to level-up his competency as an actress. Well done!

The twist in the fourth episode entitled Gab (Mark Neumann) was unexpected. It was boring at first as it seems like a fairytale and those kind of stories are predictable. But the revelation at the latter part made the whole episode significant. Being in showbiz for quite some time now, you can definitely expect Mark Neumann to deliver. He is effective as Gab. He is different in this series and I think this is good for his acting career. Mga Batang Poz is indeed one of his bravest and a great addition to his filmography.

Paolo Gumabao's episode entitled "Enzo" was the next one. His situation, his eagerness and longiness to feel loved made him do what he did as he found sanctuary in social media. In the alter world, he is wanted, he is liked. People craved for his attention. Paolo's acting chops shined as well. He made me believe. He made Enzo a valuable part of the series, which at first thought that it will be the weakest one. He made Enzo so relatable and for a series which core is in its advocacy, that is so important.

The series may have sensitive scenes but those are presented for a reason. Director Chris Martinez was able to magnify that this series is not only created to raise awareness for the youth, but for all of us. This is what is happening now and how serious it is. We all should be involve. The series gave us the chance to reflect and check not only our loved ones but moreso ourselves.

Mga Batang Poz: A Gateway to Reality

I was browsing in iWant tv to reduce the boredom of the rainy weather when "Mga Batang Poz" poster slide through my screen and got curious. It says Segundo Matias Jr.'s "Mga Batang Poz" allowing me to get to the surface that this is based on a book.

It has 6 episodes and another special episode for a Poz talk. As the term "Poz" is strange to me, what it means or it is some kind of a millenial term which I know nothing about, of course, where will I go to for the meaning - Google. I went to search for it and gave me this - "Adjective. poz friendly (comparative more poz friendly, superlative most poz friendly) (Gay slang) Willing to have sex with someone who is HIV positive by someone who is not." And then it came to me that this is an advocacy-driven series related to HIV awareness and that the series is about people who has HIV - their life living with the virus and their fight to break the stigma. On that note, I clicked "Pete" - episode 1.

Episode 2 entitled "Luis" played by Fino Herrera is not all about of his becoming. He represent a part of our youth who is dealing with the pressure of his (Chinese) family and how he coped with the delirium and misery of his "first time." Fino Herrera was so good! You may find it troublesome delivering his lines as I think Tagalog is not his native language but the right emotions and acting was there. How I wish he is gay! He is funny as Luis but he delivered depth and vulnerability when the scene demands for it. For a newbie, he did so well. This may be his break in the showbiz industry.

The four landed on a restaurant, I think it's in Bataan. While they wait for their food, they played this game called "Pag-ibig Kasi" wherein they need to pick up from a bunch of sticks with questions in it about love. Each question for each character gave us a hint of what their story is all about.

Luis got "Minamahal mo ba talaga yung ex mo?" while Gab (Mark Neumann) got "Handa na ba akong magpakamatay para sa kanya?". Enzo (Paolo Gumabao) picked up the stick that asks "May closure na ba kayo ng mahal mo na hindi mo nakatuluyan?" and Chuchay have this "Nagpabayad ka na ba para sa isang gabi kahit hindi mo ito mahal?" And then I was hooked and watched the next 5 episodes.

Didn't know the idea behind the title "Pete" or is it a term used to mean HIV as well, it caught my interest and inquisitiveness. It started with a group chat named "Pete's corner". Red Lips, Mark Ryder, Sebastian Montefalco and Green Bulb exchanging messages then decided to meet-up.

Four HIV positive youth roughly aged 16 to 24 awkwardly come face to face with each other. So good that Chuchay (Awra Briguela) is there to ease the tension and the sensitivity that this series have. Then Luis (Fino Herrera) gave us this "I don't want to go home" act which is very usual to tickle the mind of its viewers with the question "why". The group agreed to go on a roadtrip as all of them don't want to go back to their families and live the life that they have now. An escape to the reality which they refuse to accept.
