And then the search begins. Five contestants were chosen to carry the pilot episode. And yes they did quite a good job.
The first one who secured a ticket to the Idol City is Juancho Gabriel who sang "Your Man" by Josh Turner. He is the one who we heard in the teaser of the show - that deep man voice. As per Regine, she haven't heard a baritone in a while whom other judges agreed as well. And that reason alone actually saves Juancho. He is a new sound to each of us because our generation is not used to it. We are not hearing a mainstream artist doing that now. Period. But if we will look at versatility and potential longevity in the showbiz industry alone, I think Juancho will just be one of the peeps who were once seen on tv. Though he pretty has a great smile I admit.
The last idol for the episode is Angie Kristine. This 16-year old is an artista material. She is very pretty. Honestly, I think that she should not be on Idol as her main reason for joining is not to be an Idol but to be seen on tv and take the chance if she can find his dad through this medium. Well I guess this is one of ABS-CBN's way of saying "Hey, you didn't made it to the PBB house so we'll put you on Idol since you can sing and let's see how people will welcome you and receive your presence. If that will work, then let's discuss your career being an artista and find you a loveteam."
But to be fair with Angie, she has this voice. So modern. She is so now. Though question is, is that enough to make her an Idol? Definitely not. She will be eliminated real soon. But will she go places after Idol? A big YES! Again, she is young and she has the face. The future has a lot in store for her.
To sum it up, the pilot episode is unexpectedly fun. And yes it pushes me to get my radar on the show. It promises something.
What do you think? Do you have the same thoughts?
Thing is, the backstory of Juancho about her sister is tragic yet touching. If Juancho will not succeed to go far in the competition, well then I guess the purpose of him getting through this round is to bring more awareness to everyone how important mental health is and how important it is for us to always get in touch with our family and friends. We should reach out to the people we love so we can finally provide them the support that they need to get through. Maybe it will help us get through as well.

Next to go through is Renwick Benito - who was once a rebel of life and now inspired to do everything for his new family to get in sync with life. Well then, the odds are getting in his favor when he sang "Buwan" by JK Labajo as his audition piece. This guy is an idol material I'm telling you. He's not different from other rockers as his voice is Ney Dimaculangan-ish (6 Cycle Mind) but his spunk is a stand out.
