IDOL PH Episode 4: Interesting Talents

If having a vibrant personality is the only way to become the Idol Philippines, then we definitely have a winner! Gello Marquez, an 18 year old self-confessed mama's boy, charmed the judges and of course the viewers for sure. He is likeable and sure he has talent as he sings "Bakit Ba Ikaw" by Michael Pangilinan. But frankly speaking, not the best. However, he is "memorable" which can propel him to land on a higher spot than the other Idol hopefuls. His personality is contagious and if he will not let other Idol hopefuls intimidate him and he let his own style of singing fly through the competition, I'm telling you we can have a very tough contender.
With all honesty, I'm not a fan of Rachel Libres. This beauty queen slash singer sang "Starting Over Again" by Natalie Cole. She is beautiful and talented I'm telling you. No doubt about it. But it didn't work out, at least for my taste. Maybe because I'm trying to compare her to Marielle Montellano (of Tawag Ng Tanghalan Season 1) provided they have the same personality and aura. Marielle is my personal standard when we talk about that Natalie Cole hit as she delivered it with so much class. Marielle flawlessly sang that song during her Tawag Ng Tanghalan stint. Don't get me wrong! Rachel did deliver a quality performance but I think she will just be overshadowed but other Idol hopefuls in my opinion. I may be wrong.
Now, on to the next episode!

Miguel Odron, who happened to grew up in Florida, United States wowed me. He is the best in the episode. I think him, having a resemblance with James Reid is an advantage He can use it to gain more followers who will vote for him to be the next Idol Philippines. His first song was "Weak" by SWV which he did perfectly didn't get my buy-in as it was like he was doing a relaxed gig and sounded very ordinary. And an Idol should be extraordinary. I am just so glad that James let him play one of his original song entitled "Still" because that song made it all worth the time. That made him be on my radar. It was such a beautiful song. He connected and that's an important thing. It is his own composition and it's pretty personal reason why everything went well on that performance. His magic came out!
As refreshing as it is, a bunch of exciting and diverse talents conquered episode 4 and I am fully satisfied of the variety.
A Cebuana single mom was the next one who pleased the Idol judges. Ana May Delos Reyes, 20 years old, idolizes Regine Velasquez so much and was inspired by the Songbird's rags to riches journey. She sang one of Adele's hits "Chasing Pavements" which is for me, not a perfect song for her. But the good thing about it is even if the song is not right, it showcased her own unique tone which made me enjoy her performance in one way or another. Moira made a good point when it comes to working out her diction but nonetheless, she can go far in the competition. I'm looking at Top 20 the least. She has the voice but she needs to work hard for people to bet on her.
