Next stop is Kier King, a 24-year old Idol hopeful who has been trying to penetrate the music industry for 12 years now, who sang "You Are The Reason" by Calum Scott. Without a doubt, the guy has the looks, the voice and the humility which can help him become one of the toughest competitor of this season. This Sultan Kudarat native, backed up by his experience of rejection, the things that he and his family did to pursue his dream and more so his talent which we the need for recognition is long overdue, I'm sure he will never waste any second to prove that he deserve to be in the music industry. The universe, indeed, love a stubborn heart. High hopes for Kier!

The second to the last gap of the episode is a tearjerker. Calvin Enconmienda, a 22-year old teacher who happens to have been diagnosed with leukemia, gave his all when he sang "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. I strongly disagree with the judges. I don't think he overdone this song. It is an audition and you will see that Calvin has prepared more than enough of what is expected of him - an attitude that is admirable in case he won this season as it proves that he is a hard-working person and showednhow serious he is with this. The judges may be distracted by his movements and the way he sang the song but for me it is just him showcasing what he is capable of. You know that he is the kind of Idol who will never settle with an okay performance. He is capable of delivering high-quality singing and perfoming which us, audience deserve. I am so happy that the judges made it clear that they let him through not because he is sick and talked about how much he love his mother that Regine became so emotional about it but because he has it. It's crystal clear. Toning it down, as the judges advised him, is not an option if I were to ask. I love his attack and if ever he didn't make it on Idol, I guess he has a future with stage plays. Bring it on Calvin!

The Idol Philippines is giving us quite a show and I personally can't wait for the new episodes to come. It's getting more exciting every minute!

An interesting lady with an interesting song choice started the episode. Luvlou Ulanday, a cosplayer sang "Never Be The Same" by Camila Cabello and showed up with her Cupid costume. I, myself, honestly compartmentalized her as I think that her performance exceeds her singing. If we will talk about her ability to sing alone, I am pretty sure she will be out of the competition very very soon. But her overall performance is so infectious and her urge to show her artistry using the clothes for her cosplay relating to the songs that she will sing, that is something for me. She knows what kind of artist she wants to be reason enough for me to agree with Vice, Regine and Moira to get her through to the next round. Besides, we don't want a copycat. We wanted something fresh and Luvlou can definitely give it to us.

IDOL PH Episode 3: New Beginnings

I believe this episode is the most moving so far not because of the Idol hopeful's back story but in terms of their motives in joining the competition. The hopefuls in this episode don't make it sound overly dramatic like others did. They are there with only one goal - to fight for their dream.

The last part of the episode features Alyssa Quijano, 26, who is apparently the ex-girlfriend of the most talented kid in the world, Charice Pempengco who is now known as Jake Zyrus. Alyssa is a veteran in joinging singing contests on tv, competing with Charice and Katrina Velarde when they were kids so we all know what she can do as a singer. She got pipes, no doubt about it! But one thing I appreciate is Alyssa's guts to go out there again to pursue her lifelong dream, which she delayed because she fell in love - to become a singer. Well, as always, Alyssa did not disappoint as she showcase again her caliber and the judges were all pleased. Regine was all hands to her as Alyssa sang her song "Araw Gabi" which as per the Songbird herself, was very impressive because Alyssa gave it her own twist. Like hey, it's Alyssa and you know that she will deliver.
