I maybe demanding as a viewer but it seems that I anticipated it that much; that it will be extravagant, high-end and classy, reason why my expectations are so high. I mean, we know that ABS-CBN will not put something out there that is not impeccable enough. To add to that, the recording music video of "Summer Is Love" exude so much gloss! It was sunshine and smiles. Seriously, the only thing that saves the video are the ones who sang it, Ogie Alcasid dancing and Coco Martin's laugh.

Bottomline is, it didn't live up to that "puso'y naglalagablab lab lab, summer, summer is lab lab lab."

ABS-CBN's 2019 Summer Station ID "Summer Is Love" Music Video: Dull and Unpolished

The "Summer Is Love" song used in the offical station ID was a remix. I love the fact that I can hear James Reid's voice on the new mix which adds color to the song but the RnB feel just didn't help. Yes - Regine, Vice, James, Moira and Billy were great singers but it feels like it was overdone to the point that it's like trying hard to send that message to all Kapamilyas that summer is fun, vibrant, shiny and happy. Like if they wanted to change the mix, I'd rather hear the five of them singing in acapella and harmonizing than what was applied. What I'm trying to say is, they should have stick to the original mix as it is not pushy and it just captured the groove of the summer vibe.

Also, I like to think that the station ID was not rushed, but I can't help it because I'm used to seeing most of the Kapamilya stars, whether they have an active show or not, participating in it. But this time around, it's different. They only featured the Kapamilya stars who have ongoing shows. It showed their stars and normal people on the background - which is a usual thing in their station IDs - executing the Summer Is Love choreography. The top loveteams were not present as well. No Kathniel, Jadine and Lizquen popped-out of the screen.

Or maybe they could have used that space and rented dirty ice cream carts, put halo-halo stands, colorful umbrellas all over the place, summer house flags and the likes. They can also create a pseudo beach outside of it and styled as if everyone is on a real beach. They can sort to a fiesta-themed production. They have done it in many ASAP numbers, they have a lot of props to work on, and it could have maximized. I mean come on, Kapamilyas deserve an above average output. This one, it doesn't feel like it is an ABS-CBN product. It was not edgy. It was not dynamic at all. You can tell the big difference compare to their previous station IDs.

Okay. And ABS-CBN just dropped the official Summer Station ID music video for 2019 on Youtube. Oh no. Oh no. OH NO! This is the first time that a work of ABS-CBN was not delightful enough that I can classify it as dull and unpolished. It feels like it is not ABS-CBN at all.

As much as possible, I wanted to sugarcoat everything but I cannot find the right way - in a positive way - to describe what I think of this year's Summer Station ID. But before anything else, know that everything is constructive, don't get me wrong. Now shoot! There are a lot of things that is not going right.

If the reason being is time constraints, challenges with schedule of the stars, well I guess they could have done what they did on the recording music video wherein they input a lot of visual effects on the background which personally, more pleasing to the eyes even if it was only shot right outside of ABS-CBN's studios, a space going to ELJ Building.
