Another person broke my heart that night – Jasper, who sang “Lately” by Stevie Wonder. Geezz wrong choice again! I know Jasper has it. He got the star appeal and the talent to match it with but the song and the arrangement just didn’t work. It didn’t connect. I love this guy but it seems that he was so tired that time that he just gave up.
Kevin was robbed! I’m telling you– KEVIN WAS ROBBED! His performance of “I Didn’t Know my Own Strength” by Whitney Houston was remarkable, yet he didn’t make it. I got the point of star quality but please let us, Idolkadas, decide for that. I was so ready to vote for him because he deserved it. If I knew any better, the show just pull him off the competition for publicity. So sad for Kevin, honestly.
Next one is the BOMB! Lucas singing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys just sealed his place on my top 5! He has a great chance of winning the title. I’m thrilled by his rendition of the song and I can’t contain my excitement on the live shows as I know he will never disappoint. He will always surprise us! Keep it up Lucas! I love you!

Next is Enzo who sang “Too Good at Goodbyes” by Sam Smith. Another wrong choice of song! Enzo’s weakness is his falsetto and the song requires a great falsetto to pull it off. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad performance. But it just not enough to be in the top 12. If he sang “Titanium” by Sia and David Guetta, which he posted on his twitter account, oh Lord, he is definitely IN! I’m in so much pain, honestly, that he didn’t make it.
Renwick’s version “Kasalanan” by Orient Pearl was my favorite of the night. GRABEHAN! Renwick’s in it! That was HOT! I really think that the competition is far way better if Renwick’s in the top 12. And I’m so glad he’s IN! Expecting a Daughtry or Nickelback performance from him in the future.
It’s the boys turn to hit the limelight! And this episode is a rollercoaster! It’s stressful because all of them gave a satisfying performance.
Lance belting out “Ordinary People” by John Legend is goosebumps all over. This guy! THIS GUY! I’m not really a fan but he has my respect. What a talent! I really hope he goes a long way in the competition because like Trish, I think his weak point will be the votes of our Idolkadas. Nevertheless, great job!
Dan’s rendition of “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran is a disappointment. Not because of Dan but because of the arrangement. It didn’t let Dan’s voice fly. Though he still nailed it, but it’s like they’re stopping Dan to let his voice soar and inspire us all. Still good though, but then again and again, good is not enough in this stage of the competition.

Miguel singing “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word” by Elton John is a great way to end the solo round. HIS VOICE MY GOSH! So angelic and sexy at the same time. Not exaggerating but it is eargasm at its finest! I wish Miguel continue to surprise us with his choice of songs and what he can do to his voice as he has a big BIG chance to win this! He is in my top 5!
My personal top 6 for this round:
1. Renwick
2. Miguel
3. Lucas
4. Kevin
5. Lance
6. Matty
But of course, not so with my list, here’s the official list of #IdolPHTop12 :
1. Fatima
2. Zephanie
3. Sheland
4. Trish
5. Elle
6. Rachel May
7. Matty
8. Lance

12. Dan
Well, I think we have a variety of top 12 Idol hopefuls who definitely put up a great show!
Can’t wait for the lives!
IDOL PH TOP 20 Solo Round: Performance Commentary (Boys)
“Over and Over” by Nathan Sykes was the song of Roque. Dude, wrong song choice! He was out of tune at first, which is understandable as I think the nerves got into him, but I wish he chose an OPM song like “Ikaw” by Yeng Constantino or “Hanggang” by Wency Cornejo. He is painful to watch with that Nathan Sykes song. It really broke my heart.
It is so good that Matty opened the episode with his rendition of “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner! James was right, Matty gave his all! I don’t care if he didn’t hit the right notes in some parts, but him, putting up a great show is more than enough for me! Because I know he can definitely sing and pull off some Whitney or Mariah in the future. I’m just really excited for Matty in the live shows! Keep it up!
