A familiar face named Dan Ombao commenced the show. Vice already recognized him when he entered the room and eventually talked to Moira who joined The Voice as well like Dan. During that time, he went head to head with Jason Dy, the season's winner, in the Battles and of course we know what happened. But then Dan is back and I am so glad that he did try for Idol Philippines. He deserves to be on the show and the lessons that he learned from his past experiences can totally pushed him to do more especially being more humble in the process most importantly. Singing an underrated song "Nobela" by Join The Club, I can finally say he is now claiming what is rightfully his.
Let's continue!
So far, this is Idol Philippines' most intense episode to date. Well, who would not be alarmed when Queen Regine Velasquez made a strong remark - "I'm just a little frustrated." ?!
If we will talk about power, well then Kevin Hermogenes is overqualified. My gosh his voice was so Idol-ish! This is the kind of artists that emulates the show itself. I cannot contain my happiness that he decided to go through the audition as he was hesitant at first. Belting "When A Man Loves a Woman" by Michael Bolton, I'm sure he already has a place in the competition. I just hope that his supporters will not be complacent in voting him because he is so good! This guy will rock the Idol stage.
Can't wait for episode 6!

Next to go through made the judges a little uncomfortable in one way or another. An overachiever named Leanne Ganzon auditioned singing her own composition entitled "Karagatan." I can definitely say that she is the kind of artist that you'd love to watch because she's confident with her work and she know that her work is beautiful. And yes. She nailed it. But tension arises when Regine commented that it is actually the same sound. That the tone of her voice is not actually her own voice and she is just making it sound like that because its that kind of sound that is trending right now. I strongly agree! I am so happy that someone FINALLY said it! Thank you Regine! One of the reasons why I don't usually listen to new music right now is because it seems that there's nothing new. New music but nothing's new! The kind of music or the sound the artists of today are making were pretty identical that it is so tiring to listen to. Again don't get me wrong. I'd stick to what I said, Leanne did a great job. She is a hybrid of Barbie Almabis and Yeng Constantino. If I will compartmentalize my own thoughts on her audition alone, I could've given the golden ticket already. It's just that I appreciate Regine so much of opening this up and challenging Leanne to find her own voice so she can soar high using the talent that was truly hers, not a copycat.
IDOL PH Episode 5: Ear Fatigue
Another The Voice alumni Erika Tenorio got through to the competition singing "Leaving On A Jetplane" by John Denver. It was okay. And being okay is not okay. The performance for me just don't have the umpf that I want to feel. And it's a bad thing. Because that means she can sing but not inspiring at all. I hope that she will not waste the chance that was given to her by the judges. Make it work Erika! High hopes for you.
